Amazon Sellers’ News 12/23/19: Amazon FBM Sellers Manipulating Shipping Weight, Flagged for ‘Maybe’ Inauthentic Suspensions, Threatened with Lawsuits for Trademark Infringement
The first story is for the FBM sellers out there that create your own listings.
Recently, we’ve been seeing Amazon updating those listings and manipulating the shipping weight. So now, Amazon is requiring FBM sellers to send those products up to the FBA center where they are supposed to process it and actually see the accurate shipping weight for the product. Unfortunately, sellers are now running into an issue with this because they cannot sell the product on the listing since the shipping weight does not exist. So if you are a FBM seller and you are creating your own listings, just make sure that you are prepared for this in case you are flagged.
The next topic is ‘maybe’ inauthentic suspensions.
We’re actually seeing a lot of new sellers being flagged for this. These suspensions are different from inauthentic suspensions. We have seen that these are really surrounding brand gated products. So if you are joining listings make sure that you’re not joining any duplicate listings because you may be hit with a maybe inauthentic suspension.
If you’re a PopSockets seller, you may notice that you’re receiving less intellectual property complaints from this brand.
That is because it seems like they are now switching to litigation. We are now seeing some clients are being threatened with lawsuits for trademark infringement. This is claiming that the first sale doesn’t protect the product, even if it’s a genuine PopSockets product, it does not protect the PopSockets warranty, which could leave room for a material difference. So if you are a PopSockets seller and you receive a C&D letter, make sure that you reach out to us if you want more information regarding this.
