Amazon Sellers’ News 12/6/19 with CJ Rosenbaum: Amz sellers receiving IP complaints on different platforms, Hacked Amz accounts & Brand registry reports

We are seeing a significant increase in the number of intellectual property right complaints being asserted against Amazon sellers selling on Amazon platforms outside the United States.

We’re seeing it across Europe. We are seeing it in Australia. We are just seeing a dramatic increase in companies trying to protect their sales by making IP complaints against sellers in other countries around the world.

Hacked Amz accounts are back.

Every year or so, we get a flurry of phone calls from Amazon sellers where their money has been transferred to bank accounts that are not theirs. They log in, the bank account has changed. They go back to change it. It gets changed again. They get the emails over and over and over again. It is a known problem. It seems to happen about every 12 months or so. The latest iteration of hacked accounts has your money being transferred to bank accounts located in Spain.

Brand registered sellers who are reporting hijackers, who are delivering counterfeit products, and Amazon’s reaction, take down the entire listing, including the brand that obtained registry.

At this point in time until Christmas is over, I want every single private label seller (before you make a complaint against hijackers), I want you to do the math. If you are getting 95% of the sales anyway, maybe making that complaint right now is not worthwhile. The goal is to keep selling. I don’t want to see private label sellers risk losing the entire listing if they’re only losing a small amount of the sales.

Sourcing from Stock X

Sourcing from Stock X may be a great way of obtaining products at really, really great prices. Also, we’re not seeing many counterfeits coming from Stock X, so you’re getting genuine products. However, we have seen an uptick in a number of problems in Amazon looking at those types of invoices and receipts.
