Amazon Seller News: New Global Seller Services Lead at Amazon. What Does This Mean for Sellers?
Amit Agarwal is taking over for Dharmesh Mehta in Amazon’s seller services. What does this mean for Amazon sellers as they transition leadership roles?
Who is Amit Agarwal?
Agarwal, the rising Seller Services Lead, has been at Amazon for over two decades, spending much of that time in high level leadership positions at Amazon. His previous role was the SVP of International Emerging Stores and before that worked on growing Amazon’s customer base in India.
Much of Agarwal’s success has been a result of focusing on improving the experience for customers, especially in expanding markets. Major policy changes are thus likely to continue focusing on enhancing the customer experience on Amazon.
Amazon Seller Policy Updates Under Amit Agarwal
During Mehta’s time as the lead of Global Seller Services, several major changes were implemented surrounding Amazon’s handling of inventory and the enforcement of counterfeit goods. Agarwal has yet to announce major changes, but it is important for sellers to be attentive in the coming months.
At Amazon Sellers Lawyer, we are always monitoring for potential changes in policy that affect our clients. During this time of transition, we will regularly update our website with new information to keep sellers like you in the loop.
How Amazon Marketplace News Could Impact Suspension Appeals
One area we are looking at closely is potential changes to the system of escalation appeals. Since current CEO Andy Jassy’s time as Seller Services lead, emailing a.jassy@amazon.com has been an important tool for sellers to bring the issue of their suspension to higher ups. This is a vital part of the process of securing account reinstatements as repeated appeal submissions can run into the wall of Amazon’s review team.
Throughout Mehta’s time in the position, the a.jassy@amazon.com email remained the primary contact for escalating concerns. However, it is possible that Agarwal makes changes to this point of contact and how emails are handled for escalation. As such, we will continue to monitor the impact of potential changes in the appeals process.
Appealing Seller Account Suspensions on Amazon
Appealing suspended seller products and accounts usually relies on the creation of an Amazon Plan of Action (POA). POAs can be self-created and submitted through seller central to initiate a review. In the POA, sellers should detail the cause of their suspension, the ways in which they have addressed that cause, and how they are working to prevent future violations. Additionally, relevant documentation to support your case for reinstatement should be provided.
If repeated appeal submissions have been denied, escalation through channels such as the a.jassy@amazon.com email serve as an important step for restoring account access. Further reading on appealing suspended Amazon seller accounts is available below and on our blog.
