Brands Suing Amazon Sellers
The number one most prolific courthouse when it comes to brands suing Amazon sellers is the Northern District of Illinois, which is the federal courthouse in Chicago. I have been there numerous times, my firm is admitted there, and if you get sued by a big brand, they bring it in Chicago because that courthouse issues more temporary restraining orders than any courthouse in the entire country freezing your accounts, freezing your money and freezing your inventory.
The next most prolific courthouse in the country when it comes to Amazon sellers being sued is the Southern District of New York followed by the Eastern District of New York. I’ve been admitted in both of these courthouses for over 20 years. I think it’s pushing 25 years. These judges, while not as familiar as those in Chicago, this set of judges will also often issue TROs, freezing your accounts and freezing your inventory, often without any notice to you that the lawsuit even exists.
The third, most prolific courthouse in the country, is the Southern District of Florida. I couldn’t be more proud to announce that we now have an of counsel relationship with a lawyer in the Southern District of Florida, where if you get sued in Florida, we can help you, or if you own a brand and you need to bring a lawsuit in Florida, we can also help you out.
