How To Appeal Ebay Suspension
Ebay suspensions are much different than platforms like Walmart and Amazon because they operate on both temporary and permanent enforcement actions. Ebay’s enforcement team makes decisions on whether or not to issue a permanent suspension based on the type of accusation they have made against your account.
Temporary Suspensions on Ebay
Ebay issues temporary suspensions most typically for issues related to unresolved financial commitments from a seller. These issues will be outlined in the reason given for your suspension, with the necessary response and timeline also given. Most often, these suspensions are caused by sellers failing to pay out refunds or other fees from the platform.
Although sellers may appeal these suspensions, it is often more cost effective to resolve the suspension through the process that Ebay has outlined for you. Unless you owe thousands of dollars and are hoping to appeal the amount owed, in which appeals can be created to negotiate with Ebay’s enforcement team.
Permanent Suspensions on Ebay
Permanent suspensions on Ebay are often reserved for issues that need outside appeals to be resolved. These include accusations of intellectual property violation, sale of restricted or counterfeit products, and sale of unsafe products. Unlike temporary suspensions, Ebay does not provide a path for restoring your account, with the exception of creating a suspension appeal.
Ebay Suspension Appeal Limitations
The biggest difference in the appeals process between Walmart, Amazon, and Ebay, is the limitations that sellers have in creating these documents. While Walmart and Amazon allow sellers to submit multiple appeals over a longer period of time, Ebay limits its sellers to two appeals. Additionally, secondary appeals must be submitted within 30 days of the initial decision or you may lose the ability to appeal further.
For sellers working with law firms, you may additionally be able to use arbitration to increase the pressure to reinstate your account. This puts pressure on Ebay’s legal team to resolve your case in order to avoid costing them hundreds of thousands in litigation.
