Why You SHOULD Reach Out To The Rights Owner When They Make IP Complaints Against You

Amazon sellers in this video, I’m going to be telling you why we reach out to rights owners who make complaints about you, whether you did or you did not violate their intellectual property rights.

Amazon sellers, this is Jacques. Jacques is a brilliant member of our team, and he’s just a great guy, a great person, and just smart as can be. So I’m going to be talking to you today about why we always reach out to the complainant on intellectual property rights complaints even when you clearly violated their rights.

So number one, because that’s what Amazon tells you to do. In that email that you receive that tells you about the IP complaint, it says, “Here is the email address of the person or company that made the complaint. Reach out to them.”

Number two, you never know where it’s going to go.

Can we persuade them to retract the complaint? Right or wrong, we get retractions all the time.

If the brand refuses to respond, we can use that to help you get reinstated.

So in this particular case, Jacques wrote a killer plan of action, reached out to the rights owner, received no response.

We sat on it for 48 hours. Jacques took another look at it. Wrote a second plan of action, showed Amazon the extensive efforts we had already taken to get a retraction of the complaint provided an analysis of the IP issues. And again, reached out to the complainant, and again, we were ignored.

So then we used that information, went to Amazon again, and guess what? Between Jacques’ arguments in the plan of action, our analysis of the intellectual property rights issues, which only a lawyer can do, and the brand’s refusal to respond. Drop the mic. Jacques won the case.

As you are watching this video, this particular seller is selling products right now, getting his distributions, making money on Amazon and a huge part of it was Jacques’ extensive effort staying on top, following up.
