Amazon Alexa now available on iPhone with the New Lexi App
Amazon’s ever-expanding influence in the tech industry breaks new ground with the debut of the new Lexi App for iPhone.
Meet the Lexi App by Amazon. This new iPhone app allows iOS 9.0 devices to utilize Amazon Alexa on an iPhone, without the need to purchase an Amazon Echo or Echo Dot for nearly $200. All you need is an Amazon buyer account and an iPhone.
The Lexi app is a user-friendly voice assistance tool that offers great flexibility and few restrictions. While Siri and other voice tools for your phone seem to be adding to their list of exclusions by the day. Lexi allows anyone with an iPhone to use the app, no strings attached (almost). Of course, Lexi does not allow users to utilize all of Amazon Alexa’s great functions, though it does allow access to a good amount of them.
Lexi App Allows Users to Easily Access Features of Alexa
The Lexi App, which is now available in the App Store for $4.99, is run by Amazon Voice Services. Some of the Amazon Alexa functions available through the Lexi app include voice requests, smart home controls, and of course, reordering any Amazon product with the click of a button. One of the disappointing exclusions of the Lexi App is the lack of integration with Amazon Prime Music and Kindle – that means you will need to buy an Amazon Echo subscription to access your e-books or music library.
The market of voice assistance apps is growing rapidly – with Cortana, Siri, and now Lexi, it will be interesting to see who wins the technology race in the future with the best features, convenience, and user-friendly interface for consumers.
What about Lexi for Android? There has not been a statement from Amazon as of today, but knowing Amazon, a Lexi App for Android is surely in the near future.
