AMZ Marketplace Fair Pricing Policy Violation Price Gouging Suspensions
I’m here to share another win with you, this case was a marketplace fair pricing policy violation.
Amazon alleged that our client was dealing in price gouging violations, an ASIN specifically, they offered hand sanitizers on the platform. Those prices saw a dramatic increase around the COVID-19 period beginning around March.
Our client offering these listings, they didn’t manually set these listings to have higher prices. They didn’t even create the listing. But what happened, or at least what most likely happened, was that third party software, which automatically adjusted the prices accidentally increased the prices too high compared to the pre-COVID-19 period where those prices were set much lower.
This is important because when we appeal these price gouging cases, we don’t admit anything to the Amazon team because they can then send that appeal and that information that seller gives and give it to the state attorney general. In this case, it was in Michigan.
Meaning more than the fair market price can be constituted as price gouging. We made sure to not admit anything, but rather just give Amazon the information truthfully and tell them that it’s not going to happen again, that prices will be manually set in the foreseeable future and not to use that third party software.
We were able to get our client’s account up and running within the week, and now they’re happy selling and hopefully they’ll run to no more trouble. I’m really happy to help them out. It was a great case and it was great working with them.
