Amazon Sellers’ News 11/27/19 with CJ Rosenbaum: Related Accounts, Duplicate Listings & Inauthentic Suspensions
Related Amazon Seller Accounts
We’ve seen an uptick in the number of calls, chats, and emails from clients who are getting suspended under the accusation of having related accounts. Some of these clients only have one account. Some clients have more than one account. What you need to know are the different ways that we are aware of that Amazon links related accounts or catches you with more than one account. Now, IP addresses absolutely easy. They catch you by IP addresses. Same with MAC addresses. The MAC address is what is on your cable or your internet box. Not the router, but the internet box. The same or similar emails that are used to open accounts. Clearly, you shouldn’t use the same email address. What I have learned that you shouldn’t even use similar email addresses. Also, inventory, if you’re selling the same exact products or you upload spreadsheets of products. The physical address of your business, even if you’re in a shared workspace, you have to use a different address if you want to have a chance of avoiding detection. The use of cell phones. There are things in cell phones that I don’t even understand that Amazon is somehow able to identify you as signing into multiple accounts from your cell phones. Definitely from the same computers through the use of cookies and pixels. The same banks. And there are, we believe, dozens of other ways that Amazon links accounts that we are unaware of.
Duplicate Listings on Amazon
We have seen an uptick in the number of suspensions of sellers for duplicate listings. Now, we’ve seen these in many categories. We’ve seen them for auto and motorcycle parts, women’s undergarments, phone accessories, power tools, lotions, health, beauty items, and also school supplies. I suspect this is even broader than what we’ve seen, so be super careful. One product, one listing. Even if your product fits in multiple categories, even if your product fits multiple devices or even multiple machines like different cars or different motorcycles, one product, one listing, to avoid duplicate listing suspensions.
Inauthentic Amazon Suspensions
Every seller around the world needs to know that when you are submitting invoices to Amazon, there are certain things that you must look for. I have learned about many of these things by handling thousands and thousands of sellers over the years, reinstating tens of thousands of listings by cross-examining Amazon staff at arbitrations, and we just have a ton of information. What I want you to do is to look at the slides that we are posting here. Freeze this video, take a screenshot, and make sure you capture each one of these. Make sure invoices for example, have a quantity and a reasonable cost, don’t redact anything at all. When it comes to your side of the invoice, the name should match your listing, your phone number, your website, even your email should match. When it comes to the distributor, they should have a name, address that looks like a commercial establishment on Google Earth, and a web presence, and very, very, important, a phone number that Amazon can call. Make sure you save each and every one of these slides. If you want to learn more information about getting your account back when you receive an inauthentic suspension. There are literally dozens of articles and videos that you can use to review invoices yourself to get your account back. Also, just like Dana said a few moments ago, please like this video and leave a comment.
